Keuzegids Masters 2026: ten VU master’s programmes among the top

- EN - NL
Ten master’s programmes at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam have received the highest rating in the new Keuzegids on one or more themes. These programmes score very highly across areas such as content, teaching staff and atmosphere. This is shown by Keuzegids Masters 2026, published on Thursday 5 March.

"This is a wonderful acknowledgement of all the work our dedicated colleagues put in. It confirms that VU education is among the best in several socially relevant fields. I’m very proud of that," said Rector Magnificus Jeroen Geurts.

The programmes are: Clinical and Developmental Psychopathology (research), Cognitive Neuropsychology (research), Computer Security, Educational Master Primary Education (joint degree), Epidemiology, Executive Master of Finance and Control, Medicine, International Crimes, Conflict and Criminology, Corporate Law, and Theology & Religious Studies (research).

The Keuzegids assesses programmes on the basis of student satisfaction, the quality of teaching, and career prospects after completing the master’s programme. Student evaluations and the atmosphere within the programme are also taken into account. If a programme receives two pluses, this indicates it is among the best in its field.

For example, the post-initial Executive Master of Finance and Control (School of Business and Economics) scored excellent on all’assessed themes: content, teaching staff, assessment, career preparation and atmosphere. The master’s in Corporate Law (Faculty of Law) also scored strongly: content, teaching staff, career preparation and atmosphere all received the highest rating. Finally, there is a new entrant on the list. The research master’s Theology & Religious Studies received the highest possible score on three points (teaching staff, content and atmosphere). Programme Director André van der Braak is pleased with this recognition: "For us, it confirms that we are on the right track with our focus on dialogue and diversity in the study of religion. Religion matters!"

Each year, Keuzegids Masters compares all’accredited master’s programmes at Dutch universities. The ratings are compiled partly on the basis of student feedback, using information from the National Student Survey and the National Alumni Survey. These ratings help bachelor’s students make a well-informed choice when selecting a master’s programme.
