Teachers could make more use of the possibilities of Young Adult (YA) literature. 'Young Adult literature has a lot to offer and is popular among young people, but deserves more recognition,' says researcher Linda Ackermans. Ackermans will obtain her PhD from Radboud University on 20 January 2026.

Learning a new language often goes wrong with pronunciation and head movements
Adults learning another language often tend to continue using the intonation of their native language. This causes them to make mistakes in the new language: incorrect intonation can change the meaning of a word or sentence. "When learning a new language, you also need to study intonation," says linguist Lieke van Maastricht of Radboud University. She investigated whether head movements can help with this.
