- EN - NL
The relatively new Science for Sustainability community at Utrecht University has funded four brand-new PhD positions. The research projects, which were designed by four excellent students, will address societal challenges in the field of sustainability from an interdisciplinary perspective. A second group of PhD students will be starting in 2023. Science for Sustainability is a community within Pathways to Sustainability , one of the four strategic themes of Utrecht University. Read more about the research projects below: In lowlands of Western Europe, biodiversity loss has been dramatic. Effective conservation and restoration are hampered by limited knowledge of baseline conditions and developments of vegetation prior to and during agricultural intensification in the past. With her research, Catrien Hoffman aims to fill this knowledge gap by reconstructing biodiversity trends in agricultural landscapes in this area before, during and after agricultural intensification over the past 500 years.
