On 24 November, Arnold Jonk, the chair of the NVAO, presented the Institutional Quality Assurance Assessment (ITK) certificate to TU Delft Vice Rector Magnificus Hans Hellendoorn, who said: -We are extremely proud to have been awarded another ITK certificate. We owe a debt of gratitude not only to the people who supervised the assessment process, but above all to everyone who, day in and day out, makes TU Delft the certificate-worthy institution that it is.-
External independent assessment
The Institutional Quality Assurance Assessment (ITK) is an external and independent assessment carried out at regular intervals to evaluate how an institution monitors its quality. Internal quality assurance concerns not only the formal system, but also a culture in which quality is central. The assessment examines whether the institution’s vision of good education is realised by the combination of its system and culture. It is carried out by experts from the Dutch-Flemish Accreditation Organisation (NVAO), which assesses the quality of higher education in the Netherlands and Flanders.
Third time
This is the third ITK round for the university. In 2011, TU Delft received a positive assessment for the institutional quality assurance assessment as part of a pilot, which was a new instrument at the time. In 2017, we were the first organisation to successfully pass the assessment for the second time. The certificate was due to be renewed in 2023, but this was delayed due to the pandemic. The new certificate is valid for six years. The recommendations arising from the ITK provide a basis for further improvements.
