TU Delft joins EBRAINS: advancing brain research and innovation

Today marks a significant milestone as TU Delft officially joins EBRAINS, a state-of-the-art digital research infrastructure developed by the EU-funded Human Brain Project, which serves as a comprehensive hub for brain-related data and tools. Its overarching mission is to facilitate collaborative research and translate scientific breakthroughs into tangible innovations, ultimately improving the lives of patients and benefiting society as a whole. TU Delft’s participation will empower European researchers to address pivotal challenges in brain health, harnessing invaluable insights from the domains of data science, brain organization, and artificial intelligence.

These encompass a wide spectrum of advanced capabilities, including data sharing, brain mapping, modelling, simulation, high-performance computing, and neurorobotics. TU Delft excels in pioneering methods and cutting-edge instrumentation for neurostimulation, with applications ranging from addressing tinnitus to Deep Brain Stimulation in patients grappling with Parkinson’s disease. Notably, in the 4DEEG project, TU Delft has made significant strides in tracing signal propagation through the brain, a pivotal development to enhance the effectiveness of neurostimulation therapies.

TU Delft is looking forward to a close collaboration with neuroscience research groups across Europe. This collaborative spirit is driven by a shared commitment to advancing the field and ultimately improving the lives of patients grappling with neurological disorders, including those affected by conditions such as stroke, Parkinson’s disease, and migraine.
