As of 1 February 2024, Yvonne Wiggers will be the new Director of Communications of Utrecht University. She is currently the Deputy Director of Communications at the Dutch Ministry of Finance. She will succeed Jeroen Hellenberg, who was the Acting Director of
Yvonne Wiggers’ career
Yvonne Wiggers studied History and Journalism in Groningen. She started her career as a journalist at the Twentsche Courant/Tubantia. After that, she spent twelve years working as a parliamentary reporter in The Hague at the ANP and the AD - where she also led the parliamentary newsdesk for two years. She then was a Communications Manager at the Dutch Bar association (The Netherlands Bar) and Acting Department Head of Communications and Speeches at the Dutch Ministry of Justice and Security. In 2018, she worked for the municipality of Utrecht as a spokesperson of Mayor Van Zanen and for the past five years, she was the Deputy Director of Communications at the Dutch Ministry of Finance.
