Dr. Miriam Blaauboer has been named Teacher of the Year by Het Interstedelijk Studenten Overleg (ISO). In addition to the honourable title, she received a ¤25,000 scholarship from the Minister of Education, Culture and Science (OCW), Eppo Bruins. The election is organised annually by the ISO to celebrate good teaching. According to the jury, Miriam Blaauboer demonstrated her ability to illuminate complex material in an accessible way. "The lecturer has an enthusiastic approach, which benefits her students. We have full confidence that she can bring students along in the new developments in education" said the jury.
In addition to an honorary title, a physical trophy and the educational grant of 25,000 euros, the Teacher of the Year also receives a year’s honorary seat on the board of the Comenius Network; a network of educational innovators in higher education. In addition, Miriam Blaauboer, along with the other three finalists, becomes a member of the Comenius Network. This network brings together winners of Comenius grants and motivated educational innovators to share experiences and knowledge about education (innovation).
