Leentje Volker appointed to council for the environment and infrastructure

The Cabinet has approved the nominations for the appointment of the members of the Council for the Environment and Infrastructure (Rli), as proposed by outgoing Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management Mark Harbers. For the Rli-s fourth term (2024-2028), four new members have been appointed, including UT Professor Leentje Volker (ET), and eight current members have been reappointed, including two members of the Environmental Law Evaluation Committee (EcO).

The Council for the Environment and Infrastructure (Rli) is the primary strategic advisory board for the Dutch government and parliament in matters relating to the physical environment and infrastructure. The Council operates independently and provides solicited and unsolicited advice on policy affecting the sustainable development of the human environment. The policy domains in which it is active are therefore those of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management (I&W), the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy (EZK), the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV) and the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations (BZK). To learn more about the Council, go to https://www.rli.nl/

The Cabinet has to approve the Council’s composition. Leentje’s role involves her serving on the Council one day each week.
