Six bachelor's programmes at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam have been awarded the title of 'Top Programme', as revealed by the Keuzegids Universiteiten 2025 published on Thursday, December 19.

Once again, the VU excels in the fields of environment and sustainability in the 2025 Keuzegids. Three of the six bachelor’s programems awarded the ’Top Programme’ designation fall within these categories. In the ranking of broad universities, VU Amsterdam takes fifth place.

The bachelor’s programmes in Medicine and the Joint Degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences have been named ’Top Programme’ for the third consecutive year. Additionally, the bachelor’s programmes in Earth Sciences and Biology have once again retained their titles in the 2024 Keuzegids rankings. These programmes are rated above average in the Keuzegids for their content, lecturers, assessment, preparation, career prospects, and atmosphere. Furthermore, the bachelor’s programme in Philosophy, Politics and Economics has once again earned the title of ’Top Programme.’

Technology

New to the list of "Top Programems" is the bachelor’s programme Creative Technology (CreaTe). This programme, offered by the University of Twente, has also been available at VU Amsterdam since the past academic year. CreaTe is a technical university programme where design and technology converge. During the programme, students learn to develop innovative solutions for current societal challenges.

Interdisciplinary

VU Amsterdam, in addition to six ’Top Programems,’ scores above average in the field of ’interdisciplinary.’ This aligns with the VU’s strong focus on connecting different disciplines and its ambition to provide groundbreaking research and education that contribute to a better world.

Keuzegids

The Keuzegids Bachelors is published annually by the Center for Higher Education Information and compares all’accredited bachelor’s programmes at Dutch universities. The evaluations in the guide are based, among other things, on student opinions and accreditation data, using information from the National Student Survey. These evaluations help prospective students make an informed decision about their bachelor’s programme.
