"By removing barriers, all students can participate equally."
The Stadhuisplein in Eindhoven is the venue for a grand introduction party on Wednesday, August 28. This Intro Festival is the opportunity for all new students from intermediate (MBO) and higher vocational (HBO) as well as university education to discover student life in Eindhoven together, and to mark the start of their studies.
The event is an initiative of Fontys University of Applied Sciences, Eindhoven University of Technology, Summa, SintLucas, De Rooi Pannen and the municipality of Eindhoven, which supports the event financially through its ’Samen voor het MBO’ action plan that aims to ensure that all students in Eindhoven feel at home together and can actively participate in the city’s vibrant student life. The festivities are being organized by the local catering entrepreneurs.
The festival has room for about five thousand students and promises to be an enjoyable time for all. The main stage will feature well-known artists such as Lampegastuh, Dansado & the Feestmeester, Johnny500, Yes-R, Lukas Prins and Mr.Swnkls. There will also be food trucks and other activities, including a silent disco. Afterwards, TU/e and Fontys students will have the opportunity to participate in a pub crawl along pub street Stratumseind.
This festival is more than just a party; it highlights the cooperation between the various educational institutions and the municipality. The initiators of this festival underline that "cooperation is the great strength of the Brainport region. We are also showing this by bringing MBO, HBO and university students together to create a stronger bond. We are proud that we can put this together. It is important that every student, regardless of background, has an equal opportunity to develop, both personally and professionally. By removing barriers, all students can participate equally."
Fontys has distributed four thousand tickets to its students, TU/e twelve hundred and the MBO institutions together seven hundred. This festival kicks off a three-year pilot, and the experiences and reactions of this year will be used to make the bringing together of all students better in the future. The initiators believe the event will be a good start to the pilot, which gives confidence for next year.
The Intro Festival runs from 4 pm till 10 pm and will be officially opened at 5:55 pm by Alderman Maes van Lanschot, along with students from the educational institutions involved. For students who do not have a ticket, they can purchase one on the day itself for ¤8.50, upon presentation of a student card, and online: https://shop.ticketapp.com/ormodtqayu
