Inaugural address Pieter Huisman: ’Regulation of behavior in education requires caution’

The protection of the social safety and integrity of pupils and students is a basic condition for the right to education to come to fruition, but its regulation by the Dutch government and its elaboration in all kinds of codes and rules requires caution. In the first instance, it is up to the educational institutions themselves to discuss appropriate and inappropriate behavior with each other, based on the shared values and foundations of the institution. This is what special professor of educational law Pieter Huisman argues on Sept. 15 in his inaugural address entitled "Regulated Behavior. On juridification and regulation of the pedagogical relationship’ at Tilburg University.
