Job description

For the Identity & Access Management (IAM) product team, we are looking for an experienced Medior/Senior IAM Engineer within the Product Area Platforms. The IAM field is rapidly evolving at the Technical University and is becoming increasingly important, given that Identity and Access Management play a crucial role in our security policy. This team serves as the hub for authorizations and access provisioning.

Your focus for the upcoming period will be on operational IAM management within our University. In addition to handling operational activities, you’ll also be involved in ongoing developments in the IAM field.

You’ll manage our application stack and address inquiries from our internal organization. Together with the team, you’ll ensure effective handling of operational tasks and set priorities collaboratively. Your drive will allow you to quickly grasp our IAM and associated technical IT environment.

Furthermore, you’ll swiftly understand our organization and, by asking the right questions, aim to elevate IAM to a higher maturity level while considering the University’s security policy. Taking ownership, you’ll maintain contacts with our stakeholders.

Job requirements

  • You have at least HBO (Higher Professional Education) level of thinking and working, preferably with a completed HBO degree in an IT-related field.
  • You possess a minimum of 3 years of knowledge and experience with the IAM process and IAM applications as an IAM Engineer, along with demonstrable experience in Identity & Access Management systems.
  • Your verbal and written communication skills are strong in both English and Dutch.
  • You have at least 1 year of proven experience in setting up Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) within a complex organization.
  • Familiarity with Azure Cloud and expertise in Identity & Access Management (IAM).
  • Knowledge of standards such as SAML, OAuth2, OpenID, and SCIM.
  • Experience with AD, Azure AD, SSO, and a strong affinity for IT security.
  • Ability to understand IT solution designs.
  • Experience in education/research and service provision from Surf is a significant plus.
  • Familiarity with Agile ways of working and the ITIL framework.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills, with problem-solving abilities.
  • You’re a team player who enjoys collaborating with colleagues and bridging technology and service.

  • A monthly salary of minimum ¤ 3.345,- to maximum ¤ 5.278,- for full-time employment, depending on your knowledge and experience (salary scale 10 collective labor agreement for Dutch Universities).
