Rembert Duine Professor Rembert Duine researches energy efficient alternatives for electronics. He draws inspiration for this from knowledge about black holes. In doing so, he borrows physics concepts and applies them in a completely different field. On Wednesday, 5 October, Duine will give an inaugural lecture. The recurring theme in his story: "Fundamental research does not necessarily have to lead to an application directly. There are also connections that come about associatively." Pure coincidence. The idea to draw his inspiration from theories about black holes came about entirely by chance, Duine explains.
