Jeroen Cammeraat appointed member of the Supervisory Board

The outgoing Dutch Minister of Education, Culture and Science has appointed Jeroen Cammeraat as member of the Utrecht University Supervisory Board as of 1 October. Cammeraat is an entrepreneur and administrator within the life sciences with years of experience in the international corporate world.

Jeroen Cammeraat is currently Chairman of the Board at the medical companies Cassini Technologies and Plasmacure , strategic advisor at deep-tech company and executive coach at INSEAD Business School. Before that, he fulfilled various positions at Philips Healthcare, including the position of Vice-President, and continued his career at various enterprises in the life sciences, for example in the fields of cancer therapy, dentistry and ophthalmology. ICT plays an important role in his career: Cammeraat devotes himself to the protection of knowledge and President of the Supervisory Board Karin Laglas is happy with his arrival. "Jeroen is an open and involved person with sincere interests in others and their motives. His broad experience and expertise as an entrepreneur and administrator within the life sciences and ICT link up closely with the current assignments and issues within Utrecht University and society, and are of great value to the Supervisory Board - we are looking forward to the collaboration."

There was a vacancy in the Supervisory Board because of Dr. Jan van der Eijk’s departure, after serving the maximum term of eight years. The University Council was involved in the job-application process and fully supports Jeroen Cammeraat’s appointment.

On the Supervisory Board

With an eye on the university tasks, as documented in the Dutch Higher Education and Research Act (WHW), the Supervisory Board oversees the execution of activities and the exercising of authorities by the Executive Board, and supports the Board with advice. The Supervisory Board has five members who are appointed by the Dutch Minister of Education, Culture and Science (OCW). The other members of the Supervisory Board are Ir. Karin Laglas, Dr. Mirjam Bult, Bas Hendriks MA and Dr. Adrian de Groot Ruiz.
