Less is more: Efficient Hydrogen Production with Less Precious Metals

In a step towards sustainable energy, a team of researchers at the University of Twente led by Dr Marco Altomare have demonstrated a new method to reduce the use of precious metals such as platinum in green hydrogen production without sacrificing performance. The researchers published their findings in the Wiley VCH scientific journal Advanced Functional Materials .

Seven UT researchers receive Veni grant

The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) awarded a staggering seven UT researchers a Veni grant. Hannah Roth, Ashkan Ghanbarzadeh-Dagheyan, Estefania Talavera Martínez, Sophie Langer, Robbin Jan van Duijne, Rai McLean and Marijn Nijenhuis will receive funding of up to EUR 320,000 to develop their research ideas further over the next three years. 174 promising young scientists received Veni grants this round.

University of Twente in European top with three new Proof of Concept grants

Three University of Twente researchers have received Proof of Concept (PoC) grants from the European Research Council (ERC). Prof. Mariëlle Stoelinga, Prof. David Fernandez Rivas and Prof. Jeroen Leijten will receive ¤150,000 for marketing ideas that were generated during their previously projects. This brings the number of UT's PoCs to 30, ranking Twente among the top of (entrepreneurial) universities in Europe.

The European Research Council awarded a prestigious ERC Advanced Grant to Jurriaan Huskens, a researcher at the University of Twente's MESA+ institute and TechMed Centre. He will receive ¤2.5 million for research on the application of receptor recruitment in novel self-assembling materials for biosensors and nanolithography, for example.
